Richard Thomas
RICHARD THOMAS is the George Matin Lane Professor of the Classics at Harvard University and senior professor of Latin has published extensively on the classical poet which is displayed in his recent book, Why Bob Dylan Matters (2017) which takes us from Dylan's high school Latin Club to his direct engagement in his recent albums with the great Greek and Roman poet-performers--Ovid, Homer, Virgil Horace, and Catullus. Richard reveals how Dylan's work transfigures Western literature and history into a world of music and performance and shows how poems listen and hear and speak to other poems through all time.
