Owen Gingerich
  OWEN GINGERICH is Professor emeritus of Astronomy and History of Science at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. His two most recent books are The Book Nobody Read: Chasing the Revolutions of Nicolaus Copernicus, and God's Universe. A well-known commentator on the nature of the universe and evolution, he is widely sought as a speaker with a Christian perspective. Recent occasions include the inaugural Beggs Lecture at Cornell and the Noble Lectures at Harvard. In 2006 he became unexpectedly famous for his role as chairman of the planet definition committee of the International Astronomical Union.
