John Stauffer
  JOHN STAUFFER is Chair of the History of American Civilization program, and Professor of English and African and African American Studies, at Harvard. His books include The Black Hearts of Men: Radical Abolitionists and the Transformation of Race, Prophets of Protest: Reconsidering the History of American Abolitionism, and The Problem of Evil: Slavery, Race, and the Ambiguities of Reform. He has published numerous articles on American literature, history and visual culture.
