JULIE LEVINSON is a professor of film and director of the Honors Program at Babson College, where she holds the William F. Glavin Chair. She has previously taught at M.I.T., Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Rencontres Cinématographiques Franco-Américaines in Avignon, France. She was the Curator of Film at the Institute of Contemporary Art/ Boston, and has also held curatorial positions at the Boston Film/Video Foundation, the New England Foundation for the Arts, International Film Seminars, and other arts presenters. She has been a panelist and festival judge for organizations including the National Endowment for the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard and the American Film Festival. Her writing focuses on film and cultural history, and includes publications on narrative theory, documentary and independent film, film genre, and gender. She has recently completed a book manuscript on the cultural history of the American success myth. |
