Stephen Alter

STEPHEN ALTER is a Writer-in-Residence in the Program in Writing and Humanistic Studies at MIT. He is the author of four novels: Neglected Lives, Silk and Steel, The Godchild, and Renuka. His nonfiction books include a memoir, All The Way to Heaven: An American Boyhood in the Himalayas, a travelogue, Amritsar to Lahore: A Journey Across the India-Pakistan Border, and his most recent book, Sacred Waters: A Pilgrimage up the Ganges River to the Source of Hindu Culture.
