  ISABELLE de COURTIVRON is a Professor of French in the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department at MIT and Director of the enter for Bilingual/Bicultural Studies. She is a MacVicar Faculty Fellow, an award for outstanding teaching. Professor de Courtivron is an accomplished scholar in the field of 20th-century French fiction and feminist theory. She is the author of books on Clara Malraux and Violette Leduc (1985) and co-editor of Women Writers in Translation and New French Feminism. She co-edited with Professor Whitney Chadwick a collection of essays, Significant Others: Creativity and Intimate Partnership.
